No one said it would be easy being the champs. The Ravens are dealing with the harsh reality that comes with winning it all: a free agency purge like no other year.
Four starters (Paul Kruger, Dannell Ellerbe, Cary Williams and Ed Reed) were lost to free agency. One starter (Bernard Pollard) was released and a future Hall of Famer (Ray Lewis) was lost to retirement.
The Ravens have added two defenders – Chris Canty and Marcus Spears – in that time, but will still have some holes to fill in free agency.
