New York Jets running back Mike Goodson was arrested early Friday morning and faces drug possession and weapons charges, according to a News 12 report in New Jersey.
Police found Goodson and another man, Garrett Evans, asleep in a parked SUV on Route 80 in Denville, New Jersey, according to the report. Inside the vehicle a loaded .45-caliber handgun was found and when the running back was taken to the hospital, for undisclosed reasons, marijuana was found in his possession.
Later, Goodson and Evans were taken into custody by the State Police.
Goodson was the passenger in the vehicle and Evans was charged with a DUI, according to a USA Today report.
The Jets signed Goodson to a three-year deal worth $6 million in March and they were counting on him to be a big part of the offense.
Goodson was drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. Goodson played three seasons in Carolina, but was traded to Oakland last March.
